The material
Thin, hard and heat-proof.
Large-format porcelain slabs are fired from refined clays and minerals at over 1,200°C into a dense sheet 6 to 12mm thick and up to 126 by 63 inches. It is practically impervious, and it is the surface for the places stone and quartz cannot go.
- Best for
- Outdoor kitchens and grills, fireplace faces, shower walls and floors, full wall cladding, and countertops where a thin profile matters. Mitered edges make a 12mm slab read as a solid block.
- Durability
- Extremely hard and scratch-resistant, with colour-fast pigments that do not fade in sunlight. Thin slabs need careful handling in fabrication, which is why we run them on dedicated CNC programmes.
- Heat & stains
- Fully heat-proof: hot pans, direct flame and freeze-thaw cycles leave no trace. Near-zero water absorption means it does not stain and resists mould in wet areas.
- Maintenance
- The lowest of any surface. Warm water and a mild cleaner, no sealing and no special products. It is chemical-resistant, so common household cleaners are fine.
- Look
- Printed and glazed finishes reproduce marble, stone, concrete and metal with high fidelity, in polished, matte and textured surfaces. Book-matched patterns are available in most collections. The pattern sits on the surface, so exposed cut edges show the body.
