A family business since the first shop
Built for visionary projects
Founded on hard work, hands-on experience and a commitment to lasting results.
Bagi Tseren entered the stone industry at 22 as a project manager. Within a year he had opened his own shop; his wife Megan learned fabrication, ran scheduling and built the customer relationships. Today Prime Stone Design combines that craftsmanship with advanced technology and a talented team, creating custom spaces throughout Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC.
Our storyProcess
Five steps, in order.
The same sequence for a single vanity or a full residence. Nothing is cut before you have approved the layout on your slab.
- 01
Consultation and design
We help you select the right material, finish and layout for your space, in the showroom or on site.
- 02
Digital templating
Laser templating captures exact measurements, so the slab is cut to the real room, not the drawing.
- 03
12K slab scanning
Every slab is scanned at 12K resolution for precise 3D layouts and digital vein matching. You approve the layout on your actual stone.
- 04
CNC fabrication
Digital files go straight to the machines. Accurate cuts, clean details, consistent quality, no manual translation.
- 05
Finishing and installation
Hand-finished, polished, dry-fit in the shop and inspected before our own team installs it.

FAQ
Questions we hear every week.
Materials, care, timelines and cost. Short answers here; the full list, grouped by topic, on the FAQ page.
All questionsFor a hard-working kitchen we usually point people to quartzite, granite or engineered quartz. Quartzite and granite take heat straight from the stove and hold an edge for decades; quartz never needs sealing and matches perfectly across long runs. Marble is beautiful but softer and reacts to acids, so we recommend it for people who welcome a patina. Porcelain is the pick when you want a very thin profile or the counter continues outdoors.
Quartzite is a natural stone: it is quarried, cut into slabs and each one is unique. Quartz (engineered quartz) is manufactured from ground quartz, resin and pigment, so colour and pattern are consistent from slab to slab. Quartzite is harder and heat-proof but needs sealing; quartz is non-porous and maintenance-free but should not take sustained heat or direct sunlight.
Natural stone, yes: we apply a penetrating sealer at installation and recommend re-sealing once a year, which takes a few minutes with an over-the-counter product. Engineered quartz and porcelain are non-porous and never need sealing.
Typically one to two weeks from template to installation for material we have in stock. We template with a digital laser measure, you approve the layout on a scan of your actual slab, fabrication runs on our CNC line, and installation is usually a single day. Special-order material adds the distributor's lead time.
Price depends on the material, the number of slabs your layout needs, edge details and cut-outs. Engineered quartz and common granites sit at the entry level; exotic quartzites, marbles and book-matched porcelain sit higher. Send us a rough drawing or the dimensions and a photo and we will return a written estimate, usually within one business day.
